Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday to my dad

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and it was very nice. Wednesday was my dad's birthday, so they came down and we went to Happy Joes. Oh, that was soooo good. We watched four Christmasses after that. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but not awesome. The next morning while waiting for the food, we played with the kiddos. I just love the kids hanging on my dad.

It just puts a smile on my face. For our lunch, we decided not to do turkey at all. We did pork, potatoes, green bean casserole, brocoli/cauliflauer salad, apple pie and pumpkin pie. It was all good, but man I over ate. That night we just relaxed and today we have just been hanging out. We typically do the black Friday thing, but this year we opted out. I think we are going to put up the tree and do some Christmas decorating. That is my favorite thing to do.

Happy 4th birthday Dylan

I can't believe that my baby is 4 years old. We had his birthday party on Sunday and it was so much fun.

We invited his friends from his class, our neighbors and family. I think there were 36 people there, but it didn't seem that bad. I greeted people at the door and guided them downstairs where the party was. My sister-in-law Andi was a HUGE help. She started everything off with tatoos. She was great, she counted with them to 20 while they got the "tats" on. I just loved it.

We had a transformer theme, so you can imagine there were transformer figures everywhere. Its kind of nice being off so I can do some fun stuff like that. We played three games, pin the tail on the donkey, balloon game and the pinata.

They were all fun, but I think the pinata was the most fun. We had it stuffed with candy, so it was hard to break it open, but my nephew, Austin was the one who finally got it.

Oh, and we also broke the pinata stick and bent the broom stick. Seriously, it was so funny. We had cake and ice cream and then Dylan opened up gifts.

He sure did get a lot of cool things. We are so thankful for such great company, it sure made his 4th birthday very special.

After the party was over, my family stayed for sandwiches (sloppy joes and turkey/dressing sandwiches), chedder potatoes, fruit, bean salad, cole-slaw, chips and more cake. It was a lot of fun.
The one thing that was noticeably missing was my sweet nephew Kade who was not feeling well. The nice thing is, we will see everyone over the holidays before Christmas. =)

Dylan was in the hospital...

I'm sorry I haven't posted in forever, but its been crazy around here. I'm still looking for a job and now I have the kids at home with me part-time. They are here on Tuesday and Thursdays, so we can keep their spot at the daycare and have the social interaction. If I don't find something soon they will be home with me until I find something, but I will put Dylan in preschool two days a week.

So, on Wednesday Dylan stayed home from school. He had thrown up the night before and I figured I would just keep him home with me, so he could recover. Well, he continued to feel bad and he still had a temperature. It went from 101 to 104 and I was alternating Tylenol and Ibuprofen. He slept a lot throughout the day. When he was up, I was pushing the fluids. Later that night after Todd and Gavin were home, I was giving the kiddos a bath and Dylan kept complaining that his stomach hurt. He threw up again, but he had us very worried because he just wasn't acting like himself. So, Todd took him in to the ER just to be on the safe side. He was self-diagnosing him and thought he might have an appendicitis. Well, when they got to the ER, they ran some tests and did an ultrasound. They were very alarmed because they could not find the appendix, but did find fluid in the stomach. They gave him morphine for the pain and they thought the appendix may have ruptured, but they were not sure. They rushed Dylan via ambulance to Iowa City because there wasn't any staff that handled cases like this for pediatrics that evening. When they got to IA City, they ran more tests, more ultrasounds and still didn't find anything. They gave him an IV for fluids, pain and to control the fever. They scheduled him for surgery at 7:30 am and luckily around 6:30 am they did another ultrasound and found the appendix. It was there, it looked good, no tears, but they still couldn't figure out why he was in so much pain, why he had a fever, why he was swollen, etc. They kept him that day and evening to watch and he started to get better. They tested him for strep and the flu and both came back negative. So, they asked us if we wanted to stay the night or go home and we opted to go home since he was acting like himself again. He was joking around, eating, walking, no fever, etc. The ER nurse gave him a baloon that did kind of look like Gavin and Dylan said, I'll call this Gavers. How cute is that?

Anyway, they gave us an antibiotic and he has been fine since. How strange was that, not to mention how scary. When I arrived in IA City it must have looked like I was hit by a train because I was crying so much and my eyes were swollen.
